An Emotional Engine for Behavior Simulators
نویسندگان
چکیده
Interpreting, modeling and representing emotions is a key feature of new generation games. This paper describes the first version of the Emotional Engine we have developed as a component of more complex behavior simulators. The purpose of this module is to manage the state and behavior of the characters present in a scene while they interact with a human user. We use preexistent language recognition libraries like WindowsTM Speech API, and KinectTM devices to communicate real humans with artificial characters participating in a virtual scene. The Emotional Engine works upon numeric variables extracted from such devices and calculated after some natural language interpretation process. It then produces numerical results that lead the behavior, modify both the verbal and body language of the characters, and influence the general evolution of the scene that takes place inside the simulator. This paper presents the system architecture and discusses some key components, such as the Language Interpretation and the Body Language Interpreter modules.

Study on Driver Emotion in Driver-Vehicle-Environment Systems Using Multiple Networked Driving Simulators
Driving simulators have been widely used to investigate driver behavior and psychophysiological responses. In this paper, we proposed to use multiple participant-operated driving simulators which communicate with each other so the platoon formed by the simulators can demonstrate realistic effects of driver-driver interaction in simulation scenarios. In our preliminary experiment, three driving ...

Introduction: High-Fidelity simulators are considered as costly educational technologies. With a cost-effective view, if this technology can be an effective and profound impact on learners may be considered as a good alternative and complementary option to theoretical and clinical nursing education. But if the effects of this technology haven’t appropriate depth, it should paid spec...
متن کاملInvestigation of Swirling and Tumbling Flow Pattern of Spark Ignition Engine
Gas motion within the cylinder is one of the major factors that control the combustion process in spark ignition engine. It also has significant impact on heat transfer. Both the bulk gas motion and the turbulence characteristics of the flow are important and governing the overall behavior of the flow. An arrangement for obtaining a stratified charge, using port injection, is proposed for a ...
متن کاملThe Artificial Emotion Engine(TM), Driving Emotional Behavior
The Artificial Emotion Engine is designed to generate a variety of rich emotional behaviors for autonomous, believable, interactive characters. These behaviors are in the form of facial and body gestures, motivational actions and emotional internal states. It will help developers populate simulations with emotional characters while freeing them of the need for an in depth knowledge of neurophys...
متن کاملExamination of effects of multi-walled carbon nanotubes on rheological behavior of engine oil (10W40)
In this study, effects of multi walled carbon nanotubes and temperature on rheological behavior of engine oil (10W40) have been examined. For this purpose, the experiments were carried out in the temperature range of 5-55°C for several suspensions with solid volume fractions of 0.025%, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.25%, 0.5% and 0.75%. The viscosity of all samples was measured in the shear rate range of 666s-...
